Mechatronics, Robotics, programming, embedded microcontrollers, sensors, actuators and control.
I teach control theory and practise through hands-on laboratories and lectures.
I have developed a teaching aid for robotics and also for teaching control, allowing students to learn through doing.
I am keen on working with industry, research, and helping educate students through applied teaching.

Current chairman of the IET North West Midlands branch. (a position I held previously over ten years ago)
Current committee member of the IET North West Midlands branch.

Research profile:
I have a passion for integrating robotics with the real world and have worked in the food and electronics industries as a robotics engineer. I have developed robot arms, designed grippers and implemented them in industry. More recently I have developed autonomous mobile robot systems.
I am currently a Senior Lecturer in Mechatronics and award tutor in Applied Mechatronic Engineering at 91Pro.
I am the principal investigator on an Innovate UK funded project using mobile robots to sense sub-soil properties and two industrial collaboration projects involving drone mapping and AI, and robot manipulation of vegetables. I have also been the principal investigator on a variety of Agriculture and Robotics projects including: autonomous driving in a platoon, automated laser weeding, deep learning recognition of trash from a street sweeper, and dynamic soil destoning.
I also develop teaching aids for mechatronics and run workshops in robotics/mechatronics over a variety of countries.
I am a chartered engineer, and the current chairman of the IET (Institution of Engineering and Technology) North West Midlands group.
